Women Empowerment Cell is designed to empower women socially, economically, politically and legally with a focus on promoting decision making. It conducts various activities and arranges Guest Lectures to accelerate the academic enhancement, leadership development and cultural enrichment ,Entrepreneur skills in the lives of young women. In our college Women Empowerment Cell was established in the year 2013.

VISION

To empower, enlighten the young women and pave their way to grow into successful women in the society.

MISSION

• Creating awareness among the students about their social, legal and constitutional rights in order to prevent the exploitation based on gender.
• Providing platform to express their ideas through various activities like Elocution, Skit, Essay writing, Debate Gender equality concept based Rangoli etc.,
• Eliminating under esteem, deep rooted beliefs of gender bias and discrimination.
• Motivate to take steps towards positive action to protect nature and environment.
• To impart ethical values, positive self-esteem and confidence in the young women. To make them as decision makers.

Objectives

• To organize curricular and co -curricular  activities for women empowerment and to create an environment to realize their  potentiality.
• To conduct workshops and awareness programmes on self-defense, health and hygiene, legal awareness and entrepreneur skills etc,.
• To empower the status of women through education.
• To create social awareness about the problems of women particularly regarding gender discrimination.
• To develop the self-confidence of Women.
• Offering Certificate Courses on Beauty and Wellness, Fashion Designing and Tailoring to promote self employment among students.
• To develop multidisciplinary approach for the overall personality development.

Activities

   Safety and Security

The institution has different committees such as Anti-Ragging committee, Grievance Redressalcommittee, Discipline committee and Women Empowerment Cell provide quick relief to the students and ensure the maintenance of decent and moral atmosphere with in the campus.

Gender equity and sensitization is the process of transforming men and women’s mentality that strongly believes men and women are unequal creatures.

Gender sensitization is a need that has been felt and recognized by everyone at GDC Tekkali College and actively promoted through several committees and cells.

The academic efforts in the direction of gender parity are supplemented by co-curricular activities of the women empowerment cell that regularly hold discussions , talks, seminars and capacity building programmes in the college. Women Empowerment Cell celebrated 191^st Birthday of SavithriBai Pule as National Women Teacher’s Day on 03-01-2022, created awareness on the Importance of Women Education in reference with SavithriBaipule.
